Standard
Ni-Cd ranges
The Saft
block battery range is composed of modular pocket plate cells in translucent
polypropylene containers welded together into blocks by heat sealing. They
have a large electrolyte reserve to reduce the frequency of topping up
and the endurance of the Ni-Cd technology ensures that maintenance costs
are kept to a minimum.
The block
battery range consists of:
- SBL
blocks, from 7.5 Ah to 1540 Ah for standby energy over relatively
long discharge periods.
- SBM
blocks, from 11 Ah to 1390 Ah for autonomies between 30 minutes
and 3 hours or mixed loads with high peak demands.
- SBH
blocks, from 8.3 Ah to 920 Ah for power requirements over short
periods and for engine starting.

SBL Range
The SBL, pocket plate block battery range, is designed for applications
requiring a reliable source of energy over relatively long discharge periods.
Normally, the current is low, relative to the total stored energy, and
discharges are generally infrequent. The typical discharge range is from
1 hour to 100 hours and the range is available in a capacity range from
7.5 Ah to 1540 Ah. Typical uses are power back-up and bulk energy storage.
SBM Range
The SBM, pocket plate block battery range, is designed to sustain electrical
loads for between 30 minutes to 3 hours or for "mixed" loads
involving a mixture of high and low discharge rates. The applications
can have frequent or infrequent discharges. The typical discharge range
is from 15 minutes to 2 hours and the range is available in a capacity
range from 11 Ah to 1390 Ah. Typical uses are in power back-up applications.
SBH Range
The SBH, pocket plate block battery range, is designed for applications
demanding a relatively high current over short periods, usually less than
30 min duration. The applications can have frequent or infrequent discharges.
The typical discharge range is from 1second to 30 minutes and the range
is available in a capacity range from 8.3 Ah to 920 Ah. It is typically
used in starting and power back-up applications.
